Where does it come from?
The set originates from the Flora factory, later taken over by Royal Goedewaagen. Flora was located in Gouda, the Netherlands, from 1945 to 1980. In 1989, the factory was absorbed by Royal Goedewaagen, known for producing the iconic KLM Delft Blue business class houses from the 1950s to the 1990s. The hallmark "Delft Holland Handwerk" (Delft Holland Handwork) with a crown is visible on the bottom of the larger vase, signifying its authenticity.
What is the overall condition of the object?
This set is in excellent vintage condition with no visible cracks or chips. The hand-painted details are vibrant, and the ceramic surfaces have been well-preserved.
Is it handmade and/or authentic?
Yes, this is a handcrafted and hand-painted Delft Blue set. The hallmark with the crown confirms its authenticity, linking it to the Flora/Royal Goedewaagen factory, known for high-quality Dutch ceramics.
How old is it?
The set dates back to the mid-20th century, likely produced between the 1950s and 1970s.
What was it used for?
Primarily decorative, these vases would have been displayed in living rooms, cabinets, or as centerpieces. While they can hold flowers, many collectors and enthusiasts prefer to showcase them as beautiful examples of Dutch ceramic artistry.
Who made it?
The set was made by Flora, a plateelbakkerij (pottery factory) located in Gouda. Flora was a well-known Dutch ceramic producer until its acquisition by Royal Goedewaagen, a factory with a rich tradition in ceramic production, including the famous KLM houses.
