Productomschrijving

Fine Japanese porcelain plate in Imari style, produced during the Meiji period around the turn of the 20th century. This type of porcelain was made in Japan for export to Europe and is known for its rich colors, balanced decoration, and high level of craftsmanship.

The plate is made of hard porcelain and hand-painted in the classic Imari color scheme of cobalt blue and iron red (aka-e). The scalloped rim and refined ornamentation give the piece an elegant and decorative appearance.

Description

The front is richly decorated with:

  • floral motifs in blue and red

  • three cartouches featuring a geometric longevity symbol (endless knot)

  • a central floral rosette with a dark blue accent

The reverse shows flying birds and decorative motifs in underglaze blue. At the center of the foot ring is a hand-painted Japanese mark, characteristic of export Imari porcelain from this period.
