Large Delft Blue Tobacco Jar with Brass Lid | Oud Delft | TOEBACK | c. 1950–1970 | Hand-Painted Earthenware | Holland
Add an authentic piece of Dutch ceramic history to your interior with this impressive tobacco jar by Oud Delft. The jar is richly decorated with floral Delft blue paintings in traditional style, featuring the inscription "TOEBACK" and finished with a heavy, profiled brass lid. A piece that is both functional and decorative—a true eye-catcher.
This tobacco jar was made in the Netherlands, presumably by De Porceleyne Fles (also known as Royal Delft) or a related line under the brand name Oud Delft. The stamp on the bottom reads: "OUD DELFT – made in Holland – 200/0", indicating production in the second half of the 20th century, around 1950–1970. This period saw a renewed appreciation for traditional forms and decorations.
Originally, this jar was used to store loose tobacco. In tobacco shops, such a jar would often stand on the counter as a utility item, but today it is mostly a decorative collectible. It fits perfectly in smoking rooms, studies, country kitchens, or classic interiors.
Unique Gift for Collectors of Smoking Antiques and Delftware Looking for a special gift for a lover of Dutch pottery or vintage smoking accessories? This tobacco jar is a perfect stylish present for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or as a showpiece in a display case or home decor.
