Product Description
This charming antique wall plate by Petrus Regout is a beautiful example of late 19th to early 20th-century Dutch ceramics. Featuring a vivid polychrome scene and a classic Delft-style border, the plate reflects both craftsmanship and storytelling typical of the period.
The central image depicts a nostalgic rural scene with children, animals, a windmill, and a village setting. Beneath the image, the title “Lievelingen” (“Darlings”) is shown, while a moralizing proverb appears along the upper rim—characteristic of traditional Dutch “spreukenborden” (proverb plates).
Originally produced as part of a decorative and educational series, this plate combines industrial production with hand-finished details, making it both historically interesting and highly collectible today.
