Product Description

Add colour, character and history to your smoking corner or display cabinet with this rare tobacco jar from Ivura Gouda. This exceptional piece is hand-painted in vibrant polychrome colours, bearing the inscription "Poorters Toeback" and featuring a charming depiction of a 17th-century smoker. The decoration combines Golden Age nostalgia with Art Deco flair, typical of the interwar period.

This tobacco jar was produced by the Gouda pottery manufacturer Ivura, led by J. & A.C. van Rooij. The marking "IVURA Gouda" and model number 321 are clearly visible on the base. Ivura was active during the first half of the 20th century and renowned for its richly decorated pottery, often historical in style and aimed at an affluent audience.

Originally designed to store loose tobacco, this jar served both functional and decorative purposes in smoking rooms and shops. Today, it is a sought-after collector’s item for enthusiasts of Gouda pottery, tobacco history and Art Deco design.

A unique gift for collectors of smoking accessories and Dutch pottery Looking for a unique and stylish gift? This tobacco jar is perfect for lovers of smoking history, antique ceramics or classic interiors. An original gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or as a striking decorative piece in a smoking room or display case.
