Product Description

Authentic set of antique wooden skittles (kegelspel / skittles pins), dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This original set consists of nine hand-turned hardwood pins, still tied together with old cord, as traditionally stored and transported.

Skittles was a popular European game and a direct predecessor of modern bowling. These pins were made for actual gameplay, not decoration, which is clearly visible in the honest wear and patina.

Description

Each skittle is hand-turned from solid hardwood (likely beech or maple) and decorated with hand-painted color bands in red, green, and dark blue/black. The classic bulbous heads and tapered shafts are characteristic of late-19th-century skittles used in pubs, fairs, and outdoor games across Western Europe.

The surfaces show genuine play wear: small dents, softened edges, and naturally faded paint, all of which add to their authenticity and charm.
