Product Description
This wooden Orthodox triptych is a characterful religious object from Eastern Europe, produced around the late 19th or early 20th century. Such triptychs were commonly used as household icons or travel icons, combining devotion with artisanal simplicity.
On the interior, a traditional Orthodox iconographic composition is depicted. At the center is the Mother of God with Child, shown in the intimate Eleousa / Glykophilousa type (the tenderly embracing Virgin). The side panels depict two saints, possibly an archangel and a female saint.
The icons are printed or lithographed (not hand-painted tempera), indicating serial production, typical for devotional objects from this period.
