Product Description
Rare Pair of Antique Chinese Temple Vases in Porcelain with Warrior and Relief Decoration, Hand-Painted ca. 1920–1940, 34 cm Tall
Introduction
Looking for a true statement piece to elevate your interior or collection? This exceptional pair of Chinese decorative vases offers a stunning example of early 20th-century export porcelain. Featuring vivid warrior scenes, courtly narratives, and refined relief decorations, these vases showcase a beautiful blend of craftsmanship and storytelling. Their impressive 34 cm height and the fact that they are a matched pair add significantly to their collectible value. A unique find for lovers of Chinese art, oriental design, and antiques with a story to tell.
About the Maker
Both vases bear a four-character Chinese reign mark (乾隆年制, Qianlong Nian Zhi) on the base, referencing the famous imperial period (1736–1795). These marks were commonly used in the 20th century as an homage on export wares. The vases were likely produced in Jingdezhen, China’s historic porcelain capital.
Usage and Decorative Purpose
These porcelain vases were made purely for decorative purposes and were traditionally displayed as pairs on mantels, altars, or consoles. The hand-painted scenes of warriors on horseback, flag bearers, and court figures reflect traditional Chinese legends. Their polychrome enamel, stylized cartouches, and raised relief make them highly desirable as accent pieces in oriental or eclectic interiors.
Gift Idea
Searching for a unique gift for a collector, antique lover, or someone passionate about Eastern art? This pair of vases makes for an outstanding wedding gift, housewarming present, or birthday surprise for anyone who appreciates history, culture, or distinctive home décor.

Collectible and Investment Potential
The market for Chinese porcelain remains stable and often appreciates in value, especially matched pairs with narrative decoration. While this is not imperial porcelain, the visual appeal and quality craftsmanship enhance its collectibility. Such pairs have shown gradual value increases when kept in good condition and presented as originals.
Condition
Both vases are in good vintage condition with no visible cracks or chips. They show craquelure (fine glaze cracks) across the surface, indicating age or intentional aging. The enamel paint has some fading consistent with time. Small production flaws and minor glaze skips are visible at the base. A characterful and rare pair, attractively priced due to their used condition.
